Reproduction in beings of phylum Chordata is sexual, with exception of urochordates which can also reproduce asexually. In some classes (osteichthyes fishes, cyclostomes as well as amphibians) there is larval stage. With uncommon exclusions, amphibian, fishes, reptiles and monotreme mammals are oviparous, egg-laying (embryos expand in eggs and outside mother’s body) and marsupial and placental mammals are viviparous (embryos develop in mother’s body, feeding from her).
