Raymond Cattell’s trait theory: Trait theorist and psychologist, Raymond Cattell reviewed the Allport‘s 4,000 trait list and decreased personality traits to 171. He removed most uncommon traits in favor of traits generally found among most humans. He employed what is known as the factor analysis and by joining traits with striking similarities; he further decreased the number of traits down to 16.
