The respond to this question almost certainly creates more perplexity than any other single characteristic of WiMAX Technology. In the early on days of WiMAX it was frequent to see statements in the media describing WiMAX multi-point coverage expanding 30 miles. In a strict technical sense (or in some spectrum ranges) this is right, with even bigger ranges being probable in point to point links. In practice (or and particularly in the license-free bands) this is outrageously overstated particularly where non line of sight (or NLOS) reception is concerned.
