Can one put plain text or formatted text in my Moodle course without having to employ a resource?

It is not possible to put text in Moodle without employing a resourse or activity. However, you can employ labels from the resource dropdown to insert text to the front page of your Moodle. Each topic box in a course also contains an area or adding header text.
