The protocols which are defined in transport layer are:
a) TCP
b) UDP
TCP: It is the connection oriented protocol. It includes the byte streams which are originating on one machine to be delivered without error on another machine within the network. During transmition, fragments the stream to discrete messages and passes to the internet layer. At destination it reassembles the messages into output stream.
UDP: It is an unreliable connectionless protocol. It is generally used for one-shot, client-server type, request reply queries and applications where the prompt delivery is required rather than accuracy.
STLS: POP utilizes the Transmission Control Protocol on port number 110. Transmission might be encrypted by using Transport Layer Security (TLS) or Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). It is negotiated in the POP3 protocol by using the STLS command. Some clien
