In ecosystems having more biodiversity, food webs and ecological interactions among living beings are more complex and diverse. Within these ecosystems, environmental changes can be compensated easier by the multiplicity of the available resources, foods, and the survival options.

In the ecosystems having less biodiversity, individuals are more dependent upon some of the beings which serve them as the food and they interact with the small number of several species. Within these ecosystems, usually, abiotic factors are restrictive and species are more specialized to such conditions and more sensitive to the environmental changes. Even the small environmental harms may result in big disturbances in the equilibrium of ecosystem.
