Properties of star topology
Explain the properties of the star topology?
Expert
In Star topology, all elements of network are linked to the central device known as “hub”. Unlike the Bus topology, where nodes were linked to the central cable, here all workstations are linked to the central device with the point-to-point connection. Thus, it can be said that each computer is indirectly linked to each other node with the help of “hub”.
All data over the star topology passes through the central device before reaching the destination. Hub acts as the junction for connecting several nodes present within the Star Network, and simultaneously it maintains and controls whole of network. Depending upon the central device, “hub” acts as the repeater or the signal booster. Central device may also communicate with other hubs of several networks.
