The Guillain-Barré disease is because of destruction of myelin sheath in peripheral nervous system caused by autoimmunity (attack by own immune system). The genetic deficiency in formation or preservation of myelin sheath is an X-linked inheritance which is known as adrenoleukodystrophy.
