Polar and non-polar molecule
Explain how will you find if the molecule is polar or non-polar?
Expert
A polar molecule is defined as a molecule, which has a net dipole moment because of its having the unsymmetrical polar bonds.
Two factors help in determining whether molecular is polar or not. To determine if the molecule (or ion) is polar or non-polar, both factors should be determined.
a) The polarity of individual bonds in molecule;
b) The shape or geometry of the molecule.
