The plant supporting tissues includes sclerenchyma and the collenchyma. The collenchyma is made up of the living and elongated cells which collects the cellulose and pectin in some of the regions of the cell wall forming them unequally thick and therefore giving flexibility. The sclerenchyma is made up majorly of the dead cells which are destroyed by the lignin deposition; lignin refers to an impermeable bio-polymer forming the elongated, rigid and impermeable fibers. The sclerenchyma refers to the plant tissue broadly used within the textile industry.
