Physiology

The study of different types of body functions or processes like respiration, growth and photosynthesis is called physiology. Physiology is the science of the function of living systems. Physiology includes how organisms, organ systems, cells, organs or biomolecules carry out the chemical and physical functions which exist in a living system.

Human physiology is the science of the physical, mechanical or biochemical functions of humans. The principal level of physiology is at the level of organs or systems within systems. Physiology is nearly related to anatomy whereas the anatomy is the study of form, or the physiology is the study of function. Due to the open connection between form or function physiology & anatomy are intrinsically linked and are studied in tandem as part of a medical curriculum.
