Phenomenon of apical dominance in plants

Expert
Apical dominance is phenomenon by which high (over positive range limit) auxin concentrations because of auxins from apical bud moving downward stem inhibit growth of lateral buds of plant. At the starting of the stem development the apical dominance causes the plant growth to be longitudinal (or upwards) because the growth of the lateral buds constant inhibited. As the lateral buds become more distant from apex auxin concentration in these buds lowers and shoots grow more simply. The growth of tree branches can be stimulated preventing apical dominance by the removal of apical bud.
