Nervous system and epidermis consists of the same embryonic origin: the ectoderm. The epidermal appendages such as nails, sweat glands, hair and sebaceous glands, the mammary glands, the cornea, the adenohypophysis, the retina and the crystalline lens are derived from the ectoderm.
