Opening and closing of stomata
Explain how do plants control opening and the closing of the stomata?
Expert
The opening and closing of the stomata depend on the requirement of the plant in order to lose the water and heat through the transpiration (exit of the water vapor means removal of the heat). When plant has the excessive water the guard cells become turgid and ostiole opens. Whenever the little water is accessible the guard cells become flaccid and ostiole closes. Water goes into and goes out the stomata by osmosis. Other factors just like the light intensity and carbon dioxide concentration within the leaves persuade the opening and the closing of stomata. When luminosity is high the photosynthesis rate rises and the stomata open in order to absorb more carbon dioxide from the environment and liberate the heat; when the luminosity is low the stomata tend to close. When concentration of the carbon dioxide in photosynthetic parenchyma is low the stomata open in order to absorb more of the gas and make the photosynthesis possible; when such concentration is high the stomata tend to close.
