Since gold is extremely a gracious metal, it doesn’t dissolve in conventional solvents employed to leach. Gold can’t be easily displaced to Au2+ cations, so in practice, it becomes dissolved in form of complex cations Au((CN)2)-, by using the alkaline cyanide solutions like sodium cyanide, certainly in presence of oxygen as oxidant(basically air agitation is used).
