Expert
Myocardial infarction is the situation in that an area of this tissue or the complete heart muscle dies by the hypoxia because of lack of blood irrigation. Myocardial infarction is severe disease because on dependence of its extension the heart can fail, that is, it cans no longer pump blood to lungs or to the body or it can even end beating (causing death).
The main cause of the myocardial infarction is coronary obstruction, blocking of arteries which take arterial blood to heart muscle. Other events like hemodynamic shock (or circulation stoppage due to large hemorrhages, for illustration) can also cause myocardial infarction.
