Explain about mortar? Explain the several properties of a good mortar?

Mortar is a paste which is prepared by adding the required quantity of water to the mixture of cement (or lime) and fine aggregate (sand). The quality, durability and strength of mortar depend upon the quantity and quality of the ingredients in it.

Properties of Good Mortar:

• A mortar should be easily workable with.
• It should set rapidly for making construction speedy.
• The joints which are formed by the mortar should not develop any cracks.
• It should resist the incursion of rain water.
