Similarities : lysosomes and peroxisomes are undersized membranous vesicles which hold enzymes and enfold residual substances from external or internal origin degrading them.

Differences : lysosomes enclose digestive enzymes (hydrolases) which break substances to be digested in undersized molecules; peroxisomes enfold enzymes which disgrace mainly long-chained fatty acids and amino acids and which inactivate lethal agents including ethanol; in peroxisomes there is the enzyme catalase, accountable for oxidation of organic compounds by hydrogen peroxide (or H2O2) and, when this substance is in high amount, by the degradation of peroxide in molecular oxygen and water.
