Mode Superposition Method:

For most types of loadings, the contributions of various modes usually are greatest for the lowest frequencies and tend to reduce for the higher frequencies.

Therefore, it is usually not necessary to include all the higher modes of vibration in the mode superposition process.

In addition, the mathematical idealization of any complex structural system tends to be less reliable in predicting the higher modes.

Thus, the  number of modes in a dynamic analysis should naturally be limited to the lower modes.
