MIME is defined as the additional protocol which enables non-ASCII data to be transmitted through the SMTP. MIME converts non-ASCII data at the sender site to the NVT ASCII data and transports it to the client SMTP to be sent through the Internet. The server SMTP at the receiving side receives the NVT ASCII data and transports it to the MIME to be transformed back to the original data.
