A logical 1 starts ‘positive’ and transitions to ‘negative’ at the mid-bit and a logical 0 starts ‘negative’ and transitions to the ‘positive’ at mid-bit. Manchester coding is selected since it is compatible with the transformer coupling and is self clocking.
