The main human degenerative diseases are divided in three groups: cardiovascular diseases, degenerative diseases and neoplastic diseases of nervous system. The main cardiovascular disease is hypertension, the cardiopathies, comprising coronary disease and myocardial infarction, and the cerebrovascular accidents (or CVAs, or strokes).

Neoplasias are benign cancers and tumors. The main degenerative diseases of nervous system are Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
