Glucagon raises glycemia and insulin decreases it. They are antagonistic pancreatic hormones. Glucagon performs stimulating glycogenolysis and therefore making glucose from glycogen breaking. Insulin is a hormone responsible for the entrance of glucose from blood to the cells. Whenever glycemia is low, for illustration, during fasting, then glucagon is secreted and insulin is inhibited. Whenever glycemia is high, as after meals, there are inhibition of the glucagon and more secretion of insulin.
