The cytoskeleton is a network of extremely small filaments and tubules distributed all through the cytoplasm of the eukaryotic cells. It is made of microfilaments, microtubules and intermediate filaments.
Microtubules are formed through molecules of a protein, which is named as tubulin. Microfilaments are made of an actin, the same protein which participates in contraction of muscle cells. Intermediate filaments are made of protein as well.
