Male and female adult schistosomes live in blood vessels of human intestines. The females release eggs which trespass vessel walls and enter intestinal lumen being eliminated with human feces. When in water egg releases a larva named miracidium which then swims to reach the snail which is the intermediate host. In the snail miracidia transform in cercariae, another type of schistosome larva. The cercariae leave snail and swim till penetrating through the human skin. In humans the cercaria gains the circulation infecting mainly blood vessels of intestines, liver or lungs and generates in the adult form of parasite.
