The organ which liberates female gamete is called ovary, the female gonad. The release of the oocyte is a response to hormonal stimuli. The immature egg cell falls in abdominal cavity and is picked up by fallopian tube (uterine tube, or oviduct), a tubular structure which connects ovary with uterus.
