Expert
Leukotrienes and prostaglandins are made up only whenever the mast cell undergoes degranulation and enzymatic breakdown of phospholipids in the plasma membrane.
The effects generated by them are more pronounced and long enduring than histamine. Leukotrienes mediate mucous production and bronchoconstriction. Prostaglandin D2 causes the bronchoconstriction.
