Left and right bronchii
Explain the anatomical reason for left bronchus to be more elevated as compared to the right bronchus? Why in most cases of aspiration of foreign material by children is the object found within the right bronchus?
Expert
The reason of this elevation is because of position of the heart in left side of chest. Accidentally aspired objects are mostly found in right bronchus since the inferior angle between trachea and this bronchus is less than the inferior angle between trachea and the left bronchus as the left bronchus is more horizontal zed. Thus, aspired objects tend to fall in right side (bronchus) and not in the left.
