Packet switching is a digital communications networking technique that groups every one transmitted data, irrespective content, type, or structure, in suitably sized blocks, named as packets. Packet switching attributes delivery of changeable bit rate data streams (or series of packets) over a shared network. When traversing network switches, adapters, routers and further network nodes, packets are queued and buffered, resulting in uneven delay and throughput based on the traffic load in the network.
