Blood brain barrier is caused in central nervous system, when blood circulation is divided from the brain extra cellular fluid (or BECF). This phenomenon incurs along all capillaries. It comprises of tight junctions around the capillaries which don’t exist in normal circulation. Cells of the barrier actively transport metabolic products like glucose across the barrier with particular proteins. This barrier also comprises of astrocytic end feet and also comprises a thick basement membrane.
