Intensity of facilitated diffusion diverge
How does the intensity of facilitated diffusion diverge on the subject of the concentration of moved substance? What is limiting factor?
Expert
Like simple diffusion facilitated diffusion is extra intense if the concentration gradient of substance raises and less intense if the gradient reduces. In facilitated diffusion but there is a limiting factor: the quantity of permeases which make possible the transport by the membrane. Even in a condition in which the concentration gradient of diffusing substance raises, if there are not adequate permeases to act upon the transport there will be no raise in the intensity of diffusion. This condition is named as saturation of transport proteins and it represents the point at which the maximum transport capability of the substance across the membrane is attained.
