Why endocrine system considered integrative systems of body? What is the other physiological system which also has this function?
Expert
The endocrine system is said to have integrative feature because the hormones produced by the endocrine glands are substances which act at a distance and many of them act in dissimilar organs of body. So the endocrine glands get information from some regions of body and they can produce effects in other regions offering functional integration for body.
Besides the endocrine system, other physiological system which also has integrative function is the nervous system. The nervous system integrates the body through the network of nerves connected to peripheral and central neurons. The endocrine system integrates body through hormones which travel through circulation and are produced by endocrine glands.
