The income elasticity of demand can be approximately computed if we identify the percentage change within the: (1) quantity of a good demanded yielded by a specified absolute change in income. (2) price generated through a specified change in quantity demanded. (3) quantity of a good demanded divided through a small proportional change within price. (4) income spent on a good like its price changes. (5) amount of a good sold while there is a small percentage change in income.
