Civil law is the system of law derived from Roman law which focuses on development of a comprehensive legislated code. In 1804 Civil law made in continental Europe and was significantly influenced by the Code of Napoleon. Generally private law in Quebec is civil law, but the rest of Canada falls beneath common law. Civil law concerned with only a few southern states in the United States example Louisiana, as well as to Mexico, continental Europe, most of Scotland, Africa, all of South and Central America.
