Photoreceptor cells form retina, a lamina which encloses the internal posterior region of eyeball. The photosensitive cells of retina are divided into two types:
a) The cone cells
b) The rod cells.
These cells have the pigments which sense the specific light wave ranges and trigger the action potentials that is conducted through the optical nerves to visual area of brain.
