The organs which are portion of the human respiratory system can be classified into three groups: lungs, airway and respiratory muscles. The lungs are right and left lungs made up of alveoli where gas exchange (that is, entrance of oxygen and exit of carbon-dioxide) occurs; the lungs are enclosed by the pleura (that is, a serous membrane). The muscles on which the breathing procedure depends are mostly the diaphragm and the intercostal muscles (muscles among the ribs).
