There are 2 manners that any Network device will acquire its IP Address. One is manual entry through users / administrators while the other is automatic called DHCP. The DHCP server in network (or locally) or at your ISP (or Public) does this job. Usually, most if not all computers and network devices are setup to look for the DHCP server and acquire IP Address.
