Respiratory pigments are oxygen-carrying molecules exist in the blood. Whenever the oxygen concentration is high, for illustration, in the pulmonary alveoli, the respiratory pigments join to the gas. In conditions of low oxygen concentration, example: in tissues, the respiratory pigments discharge the molecule. In human blood, the respiratory pigment is hemoglobin, present in the red blood cells.
