The lymphocytes which participate in cellular immune response are T lymphocytes. T lymphocytes distinguish into three main kinds: cytotoxic T lymphocytes (or cytotoxic T cell), helper T lymphocytes (or helper cell) and suppressor T lymphocytes. The cytotoxic cells are the effectors of system, that is, they directly attack other cells identified as foreign (for illustration, fungi cells, cells infected by the virus, neoplastic cells, graft cells and so on). The helper cells and the suppressor T lymphocytes perform as regulators of the system liberating substances which respectively stimulate and restrain the immune action of T and B lymphocytes. Subsequent to the primary immune response memory T lymphocytes as well remain in the circulation to give faster and more efficient reaction in situation of future infections.
