The major functions of osseous tissue are:
a) To offer the structural rigidity to the body, and b) To delineate the spatial, positioning of other tissues and organs; c) To provide support to the body weight; d) To serve as a site for the purpose of the mineral storage, mainly of calcium and phosphorus; e) To form the protective structures for significant organs such as the brain, the spinal cord, the heart and the lungs; f) To work as a lever and provide support for the muscles, providing movement; g) To comprise the bone marrow where hematopoiesis takes place.
