Functions of insulin and glucagon for blood glucose control
Explain the functions of insulin and glucagon intended for blood glucose control?
Expert
Glucagon is responsible for increasing glycemia whereas insulin reduces it. They are aggressive pancreatic hormones. Glucagon acts as stimulating glycogenolysis and therefore forming glucose by glycogen breaking. Insulin is the responsible hormone for entrance of glucose into the cells from the blood. In the stage when glycemia is very low, e.g. during Fast, glucagon is exuded and insulin is reserved. When glycemia is high, as after food, there are inhibition of glucagon and more oozing of insulin.
