Cartilages are accountable for the structural support of ears and nose. The trachea and bronchi are also organs with cartilaginous structures which prevent the closing of these tubes. In the joints there are cartilages which cover the bones offering a smooth surface to decrease the friction of joint movement. In formation of bones the cartilages performs as a mold and they are steadily substituted by osseous tissue.
