The cartilages are generally responsible for the structural support of nose and ears. The trachea and the bronchi are also organs having cartilaginous structures which avoid the closing of these tubes. In the joints there exist cartilages which cover the bones offering a smooth surface in order to decrease the friction of joint movement. Within the formation of bones cartilages act as a mold and they are steadily substituted by the osseous tissue.
