Increase in blood concentration of estrogen with the growth of ovarian follicle results in the hypophysis to liberate LH. In this phase LH acts along with the FSH promoting the maturation of follicle that at the 14th day ruptures liberating the female gamete (ovulation). After release of ovum LH acts triggering the formation of corpus luteum, the structure formed from remaining follicular mass. Concentration of LH is maximum at 14th day of the cycle.
