Formation of urea in human body
How urea is formed within the human body?
Expert
Urea is said to be the product of degradation of amino acids. In process, amino acids lose their amine group which is then transformed to the ammonia. In liver, ammonia reacts with the carbon dioxide in order to form urea and water, a process which is known as ureogenesis. In intermediary reactions of the ureogenesis a molecule of the ornithine gets consumed and another is produced. Due to this reason ureogenesis is also termed as the ornithine cycle.
