Their seeds are formed through the differentiation of megasporangia inside the female strobiles (cones). After an oosphere gets fecundated, female gametophyte creates the haploid (n) primary endosperm, a nutritive tissue which covers the embryo and the covering of megasporangium turns into the diploid (2n) seed shell.
