Explain which period of life does the formation of gametes start in female?

The meiosis which creates female gametes starts in the cells of the ovarian follicles prior to birth. After that beginning of puberty, under hormonal stimuli, during every menstrual cycle one of the cells is discharged on the plane of the ovary and meiosis resumes. The meiotic procedure is merely concluded however if fecundation occurs.
