In pteridophytes gametes are formed through the process of the mitosis from the special cells of gametophyte. As in all plants, in pteridophytes, meiosis is sporic, that says, cells of sporophyte undertake meiosis and produces the spores which then through the mitosis turns into the gametophyte.
