First polar body
Explain the first polar body? How it is different from the oocyte II?
Expert
Within oogenesis, the oogonium differentiates to the oocyte I (2n) and this cell go into meiosis. After ending, the first meiotic division (meiosis I) the oocyte I make two cells: the oocyte II (n) and first polar body. The oocyte II is larger since it gets almost all cytoplasm and the cytoplasmic structures of the oocyte I as the strategy for the metabolite and nutrient storage. Oocyte II cell then goes to second meiotic division. The first polar body is really very small and almost lacks the cytoplasm; it collapses or stays attached to the oocyte II.
