Negative feeback of homeostatic regulation
State an example of negative feeback of the homeostatic regulation?
Expert
Negative feedback happens whenever the response to a given action produces an effect which inhibits that particular action. For instance, when concentration of the carbon dioxide in the blood is high pulmonary respiration is stimulated for the CO2 excess to be expelled through the expiration. Hyperventilation, on the other hand, lowers the concentration of the carbon dioxide in the blood too much producing the negative feedback which commands the reduction of respiratory frequency. Negative feedback is the chief mechanism of the homeostasis and it occurs in several processes, like in blood pressure control, glycemic control, muscle contraction and so on.
